It's understandable that Tibetan's are grieving what feels like a loss to them, and yet you are very correct in that really this is a necessary step that His Holiness is taking. He is as you say incredibly well-versed in the political realm and his vision is always forward. He is simply preparing for his eventual exit from this life and wants to make sure that the Tibetan movement does not fall apart in his absence. Great writing and thanks for your keen insights.Rebe Kungahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03587383271885579860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5957710963492285366.post-69603116886682433942011-03-16T07:52:05.301-07:002011-03-16T07:52:05.301-07:00Thank you for writing/posting this piece. And while all probably know this is good, it probably feels a lot like further erosion of one's culture/world. On the bigger stage, aka the world, it makes all good sense. For preservationists, it probably feels like a big loss. But facing reality is the most important, so that the Tibetan world is really preserved. Leaving the country leaderless (if something were to happen to HHDL) or supplanted (if China, INC got its way) is far worse than delegating admin. functions. The 13th Dalai Lama fled Tibet, to later return when it was wise. Many things have happened over the centuries; yet things got back to center. Why? Because the people. Because of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. So, it is imperative to not only wiping tears; but to transfer all to the children.....for a future :-)patrick mahoneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15085630327161803336noreply@blogger.com
